Tommaso Ciampa reflects on NXT TakeOvers of the past.
If there's a Mount Rushmore of the black and gold era of NXT, Tommaso Ciampa and Johnny Gargano are certainly immortalized on it.
Ciampa and Gargano's first big title win as #DIY came at WWE NXT TakeOver: Toronto where they defeated The Revival's Scott Dawson & Dash Wilder, better known today as FTR's Dax Harwood & Cash Wheeler in a 2-out-of-3 Falls match to capture the WWE NXT Tag Team Championship.
Beyond that, Ciampa and Gargano engaged in a rivalry that would headline major NXT events.
During a recent interview with WrestleZone's Bill Pritchard, Ciampa named his match with Gargano at NXT TakeOver: New Orleans as his favorite singles TakeOver match and the aforementioned match with FTR one of his favorite tag team matches that he's ever been a part of.
"TakeOver: New Orleans is definitely up there. The entrances alone. That was my first one back after major surgeries. So that was really sentimental and our match at TakeOver: Toronto with The Revival when we won the titles. That 2-out-of-3 Falls Match was one of my favorite tag matches I've ever been a part of."
Now #DIY is a member of the WWE Friday Night SmackDown roster and they are focused on winning Tag Team Championship gold once again.
